Schloss Ortenburg (Ortenburg Castle)
The coffered ceiling from 1628 is magnificent, and one of the most valuable in Germany to boot. But the Renaissance Schloss Ortenburg (Ortenburg Castle), built in 1567 by Count Joachim v. Ortenburg, has much more to offer besides the ceiling in the castle chapel: The tour leads through another 14 rooms, where a local history collection is also on display. The typically Reformation-style interior of the castle also reflects Ortenburg (Ortenburg Castle)'s special confessional position as a Protestant enclave in Lower Bavaria.
