Accessibility

Access via Lift

You can get to the Infopoint Museums & Castles in Bavaria via an eight-step external staircase or an external lift. To use the latter, you will need a key. Simply ring the bell at the Infopoint letterbox on the ground floor by the stairs and the Infopoint team will help you with everything else.

Once you have reached the Infopoint on the mezzanine floor, the following indoor lifts are available to the exhibition Munich Imperial Castle in the basement:

  • a closed lift (freely accessible to all) to the first basement level
  • an indoor lift from the first to the second basement level (needs a key that can be borrowed from the Infopoint team)

Tactile (Floor) Guidance System

A floor guidance system for blind and visually impaired persons has been installed at the Infopoint (ground floor).

Tactile handrail signs on the eight-step external staircase lead "to the Infopoint". Once in the entrance area, the tactile floor guidance system starts behind the vestibule with a truncated dome and floor guidelines. The first turn to the left leads to the information desk, where someone from the Infopoint team will be available to answer questions. Continue straight ahead through a double door into the corridor, where three paths open:

  • left "to the exhibition Munich Imperial Castle" via a U-shaped staircase with a half landing running in the opposite direction
  • straight ahead to the lower exhibition level via a closed lift
  • right to the accessible toilet (access with Euro WC key)

In the Kaiserburg Munich exhibition area, floor guidelines have not yet been implemented.

Restrooms

An accessible restroom on the mezzanine level of the Infopoint can be accessed with a Euro WC key (available to borrow at the front desk).
