With the “Blue Rider” through the “Blue Land”
One of the most beautiful regions in Germany stretches between the Bavarian capital and the Alps. The green moraine landscape with its clear waters and impressive mountains inspired Ludwig Thoma to exclaim: "Just open your eyes; everything is beautiful!"
In the early 20th century, this region attracted young expressionists such as Emil Nolde and Ernst Ludwig Kirchner. The artists of the "Blauer Reiter" ("Blue Rider") movement - Wassily Kandinsky, Gabriele Münter, Franz Marc, Alexej von Jawlensky and Heinrich Campendonk - were closely associated with the landscape.
