The Gäubodenmuseum (Gaeuboden Archaeological Museum) in Straubing impresses above all with the "Straubing Roman Treasure", one of the most important Roman finds in Germany. Behind the modern façade of the Museum Quintana lies 7000 years of Künzing's history. The exhibition begins with Neolithic artefacts and a model of the circular ditch. This is followed by important finds from the Metal Age, a Roman auxiliary fort and everyday artefacts from antiquity. The experiences of St Severin during the Migration Period and finds from Late Antiquity are on display. In the early Middle Ages, finds from a large burial ground illustrate the costume and equipment of the new Bavarian settlers.

In the Römermuseum Kastell Boiotro (Roman Boiotro Museum), you can experience the past directly on the foundations of the late antique fort Boiotro from 280 B.C. In the basement, the fort wall and later superstructures are visible via touchscreen. The museum displays finds from Passau up to 476 AD, supplemented by a film, audio stations and models that illustrate 400 years of Roman rule. The connection between these finds and history can be clearly understood here.
