Museum Schloss Oberschwappach (Museum Oberschwappach Castle)
If you want to experience the spirit of the Baroque directly, you should visit Oberschwappach Castle. In eight rooms of this three-winged complex built between 1733 and 1738, around 130 works of art from the collections of the Diocese of Würzburg bear witness to the diverse and rich artistic creativity of the 17th and 18th centuries. The Baroque rooms with their rich stucco form with the works of art that special unity which characterises the Baroque, and at the same time document the formative power of this epoch in Franconia.The archaeological department in the vaulted cellar of the museum shows the development of human settlement and skills in this region from prehistory and early history to the 18th century.
