Historisches Museum auf Burg Pappenheim (Historical Museum at Pappenheim Castle)
So this is where they come from, the "Pappenheimers" from the winged word. Those who don't know them as well as Wallenstein from Schiller's drama should visit the Historisches Museum auf Burg Pappenheim (Historical Museum at Pappenheim Castle). Here visitors can learn all about the count's family and its most important scion, Field Marshal Gottfried Heinrich zu Pappenheim, who led the cuirassiers named after him from victory to victory in the 30 Years' War (who, incidentally, became proverbial not because of their slyness but because of their bravery). Other areas tell of the history of the castle, built around 1040, the village and the county. The castle grounds include an extensive botanical garden with native plants and a herb garden.
