Pfingstritt-Museum (Whitsun Ride Museum)
The annual "Kötztinger Pfingstritt" is one of the largest countryside rides in Europe, with over 900 riders and thousands of spectators. In the church castle in Bad Kötzting, a late medieval fortified complex with a cemetery, church and castle, a small museum with historical objects and a rich collection of materials documents the over 600-year history of the riders' pilgrimage and the subsequent symbolic Whitsun wedding. A market flag from the end of the 18th century, precious wreaths of virtue, horse ornaments, the traditional costume of the riders and the splendid dress of a Pentecost bride from the 19th century as well as photographs show the historical and contemporary significance of the custom.
