The small Döpfner Museum was initiated in 2001 in memory of Hausen's most famous son, honorary citizen of Hausen and Bad Kissingen, in the former monastery building by the local priest at the time, Georg Hirschbrich, and was initially looked after. In two rooms, many memorabilia, pictures, documents and information from the life and work of Julius Döpfner can be viewed.Cardinal Döpfner was one of the most influential personalities of the Catholic Church in the 20th century. First as Bishop of Würzburg, then as Bishop and Cardinal in Berlin and finally as Archbishop of Munich. His importance for the path of the Catholic Church into the modern age is not only manifested in his outstanding commitment to the Second Vatican Council (1962 to 1965), but also as President of the Würzburg Synod (1972 to 1975) and as a leading figure in many Vatican commissions and for the universal church.
