The Rothenburg brotherhood of shepherds has met annually since 1472 for the Shepherds' Day with a church service and feast. The young shepherds danced with the citizens' daughters. The exhibition in the gatehouse of St Wolfgang's Church (15th century) documents shepherding in the Rothenburg area and the custom of this joyful dance, which was revived at a carnival event in 1911
