Museum Prien
A model of the spectacular "Priener Turmverschiebung" from 1736 or the famous "Priener Hut" with its gold tassels are of course not to be missed in the central museum of the western Chiemgau. But there is much more to discover in this important collection on the history, art history and folklore of the region: Farmhouse parlours as well as Chiemsee fishing, which is represented by the last Chiemsee dugout canoe from the mid-19th century. A large general map painted around 1735 shows the dominion of Wildenwart, and religious art and nativity scenes bear witness to regional piety.Of particular importance is the "Historical Gallery of Chiemsee Painters" with paintings from the 19th and 20th centuries, Particularly important is the "Historical Gallery of Chiemsee Painters" with paintings from the 19th and 20th centuries, especially from the Frauenchiemsee artists' colony with Maximilian Haushofer, Karl Raupp and Josef Wopfner, the group of "Bears and Lions" with Hugo Kauffmann, the "Wave" and Chiemgau art with works by the artists Rudolf Sieck, Theodor v. Hötzendorff and the sculptress Marianne Lüdicke.
