Man - machine - pattern - fashion: the four M's are at the heart of the Textile and Industry Museum, or tim for short. For centuries, Augsburg was an important centre of textile production and finishing. In the listed buildings of the former Augsburg worsted spinning mill, the excursion into textile production thus also becomes an exciting and interactive journey through the history of Bavaria's industrialisation.impressive machines demonstrate the processes, from spinning to weaving, fabric printing and finishing to making up. At the centre of the exhibition, however, is a unique collection of over one million fabric samples documenting Augsburg fabric printing from the 1780s to the 1990s. Over 4 m high "graces" serve as an interactive projection surface for visitors, where they can try out the patterns "on the model". The stories of workers, influential entrepreneurs and bankers show how radically industrialisation changed people's lives, but the museum also presents exciting developments in the textile world of today and tomorrow. In the high-tech area, the tim gives us a glimpse of exciting possibilities for the future - from intelligent clothing and artificial muscle to products made of carbon.tim has a special museum trail for children. On activity areas they can weave, knit or print themselves.
