Prientalmuseum im Schloss Hohenaschau (Priental Museum in Hohenaschau Castle)
The beginnings of Hohenaschau Castle and dominion date back to the 12th century. Significant changes and reconstructions of the dominion, which is enthroned on an 80 m high rock above the Priental, took place in the 16th, 17th and early 20th centuries (extension of the south wing). The bastion, the Baroque Preysing halls, the Laubensaal, which is painted all around, the mighty keep and the castle chapel, all of which can be seen during the guided tour, bear witness to this. Documentation on the former high court of Hohenaschau (dominion, genealogy, jurisdiction) and the building history of the castle are housed in the north wing of the historic ring castle. The adjoining Priental Museum is dedicated to the history of the iron industry in the Priental and the von Cramer-Klett family.
