Museum Terra Triassica (Museum Land of the Triassic)
Terra Triassica - the land of the Triassic. The Triassic began about 252 million years ago and lasted a good 50 million years. Today, fossil finds from that era offer us a small insight into the immense diversity of life at that time. In the Museum Terra Triassica (Museum Terra Triassica), realistic dioramas tell us about the changes in the Triassic living environment in the area of today's Main-Franconia. The bases for the reconstructions - the original fossils - are assigned to the dioramas. They make it possible to trace the flora and fauna of entire ecosystems down to the last detail: early, land-dwelling dinosaurs can be discovered as well as their marine relatives, but also fossil shark and fish remains, molluscs and crustaceans, and even insects and microorganisms of that era. After the visit to the museum, the Triassic Garden with its plants, whose relatives already existed in the Triassic period and whose fossils can be marvelled at in the Museum Terra Triassica, invites visitors to explore.
