Naturwissenschaftliches Museum (Natural Science Museum)
The former city palace of the Counts of Schönborn, built in 1681, houses the city's natural history collections. The foundation of the museum is a "natural history cabinet" that goes back to the collection of the royal forestry school that was moved to Munich in 1910. The flora and fauna of the Spessart are presented in dioramas, as are exotic animals and plants. The entomological holdings are particularly noteworthy: Apart from beetles and cicadas, it is mainly butterflies that can be admired. The geological and mineralogical sections provide an introduction to the topography and geological history of the Spessart region.
