Museum Salz und Moor im Klaushäusl (Salt & Moor Museum)
The saline water extracted in salt mines, the brine, has been piped to salt works for further processing since the 17th century.
The "Klaushäusl" from 1810 is located near Lake Chiemsee and is the only completely preserved pumping station on the 107 km long brine pipeline from Berchtesgaden to Rosenheim. The centrepiece is the original Reichenbach water column machine, which was in operation for 150 years.
In the Brunnwartshaus, a permanent exhibition provides information on the natural and cultural history of the nearby "Kendlmühlfilzen" high moor.
