Museum Papiermühle Homburg (Museum Paper Mill Homburg)
Water and water power are important prerequisites for paper production, and so in 1807 the paper mill had to be transferred piece by piece from the Spessart to the Main and rebuilt due to a lack of water. The mill with its characteristic pagoda-like roof was in operation in Homburg until 1975. Today, walking through the authentically preserved production rooms, visitors can vividly experience the manufacturing processes and life in the paper mill, from pre-industrial hand papermaking to machine production. Tools, utensils and machines from the 19th and 20th centuries are on display. In addition to the production facilities, the living quarters of the papermaking family are shown, preserved in the condition of the 1950s and 1960s. The noise made by small machines during a guided tour adds to the vivid impression of life and work in the mill.
