Museum Obere Saline (Museum Upper Saline)
One house - five departments, that is the Museum Obere Saline (Museum Upper Saline). What all the exhibitions have in common is that they revolve around the themes of salt production and the history of baths. The most famous resident of the Upper Saltworks was Reich Chancellor Otto Prince von Bismarck. The rooms he lived in have been preserved just as he left them, which is unique in Germany. Bad Kissingen can look back on more than 1,000 years of salt and salt production, and the museum provides an overview from the Carolingian period to 1968. While "Heilbad Kissingen" focuses on the beginnings of the local spa and healing industry, for example with travel advice from 1589, the section "Weltbad Kissingen" is dedicated to the heyday of the town from 1830 to 1930. All facets such as music and theatre, games and sports, famous and less famous guests are on display. Finally, the "Toy World" shows wooden toys from the Rhön and from all over the world.
