Historisches Museum Bamberg (Bamberg Historical Museum) houses a large number of treasures. Its extensive collection documents the culture and history of the UNESCO World Heritage city from prehistory to the present day. In addition to the permanent painting gallery "100 Masterpieces - From Lucas Cranach to Pieter Breughel to Otto Modersohn", the museum presents the exhibition "From Romanticism to the Wilhelminian Period - Civic Culture in Bamberg in the 19th Century" and the UNESCO award-winning exhibition "In the River of History - Bamberg's Lifeline the Regnitz", which links Bamberg's river and city history in an innovative way. Finally, the section "Jewish in Bamberg" follows the traces of Jewish life in the city since the Middle Ages.During the Christmas season, the museum hosts changing nativity scene exhibitions.
