Glaskathedrale Amberg (Glass cathedral Amberg)
Walter Gropius (1883-1969) created a "cathedral of labour" and one of the most important industrial buildings of the 20th century for the former Rosenthal glassworks in Amberg. As the last work of the globally active architect and Bauhaus founder, it is an outstanding example of his design principle "Form Follows Function". Glass is still produced in the hall, which was completed in 1970. A moderated multimedia show in the exhibition room provides information about the history of the building from its construction to the present day. In order not to disrupt the production process, the glass cathedral can only be visited by prior appointment as part of a guided tour.
