Seidlvilla (Seidlvilla)
The Schwabing Seidlvilla (Seidlvilla) was built in 1905 as a representative bourgeois property by the architect Emanuel von Seidl. In the 1970s, the citizens' initiative "Aktion Nikolaiplatz" prevented the planned demolition and pushed through the demand that the house be used for the benefit of the citizens in the future and that Munich's first district cultural centre be built here. After much toing and froing, the Seidlvilla (Seidlvilla) opened in 1991 as a community centre and cultural centre and has been an integral part of Munich's cultural and social life ever since. The spectrum of public events includes literature, music, lectures, reading and writing circles as well as discussions and guided tours. Around seven exhibitions a year showcase contemporary art or address socio-political issues.
