The Modern Art Collection shows works of art of all genres from the most important avant-garde movements of the early 20th century to the immediate contemporary art. All the major movements are represented here with significant examples and stand in exciting juxtaposition and coexistence. Cubism and Futurism, Expressionism, New Objectivity and Surrealism meet Abstract Expressionism, Pop Art and Minimal Art. Works by members of the Brücke, the Blaue Reiter, Max Beckmann, Pablo Picasso, Max Ernst, René Magritte and Salvador Dalí, but also extensive blocks of works by Lucio Fontana, Joseph Beuys, Andy Warhol. Donald Judd, Dan Flavin and Georg Baselitz provide an overview of the constantly changing questions, mechanisms of perception and redefinitions in modern art.
