One of the largest treasure troves in Roman Germany can be admired at the RömerMuseum Weißenburg (RomanMuseum Weißenburg). It was probably hidden in the neighbourhood of the Great Baths in the 3rd century AD by looters collecting scrap metal. In addition to 17 statuettes of gods of varying quality from Italy and the provinces, the find also includes numerous iron artefacts and household items. The second half of the permanent exhibition focuses on the Weissenburg region in antiquity: at the time, Roman Biriciana was one of only seven equestrian forts in the province of Raetia and the seat of a Spanish equestrian unit. The ground floor of the museum houses the Limes Information Centre on the Upper Germanic-Raetian Limes in Bavaria as part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site "Frontiers of the Roman Empire".
