"I have taken the pleasure of designing the plan of my palace myself." Even if this statement by Margravine Wilhelmine should not be taken too literally, she had a significant influence on the design of the New Palace in 1753 by the architect Joseph Saint-Pierre. Together they created a major work of 18th century German architecture, which impresses less with its grandiose splendor than with the delicacy and intimacy so typical of the "Bayreuth Rococo" style. Among the magnificently furnished rooms, the Chinese Mirror Shard Cabinet, the Old Music Room with pastel portraits of singers, actors and dancers or the Japanese Room in the form of a garden trellis overgrown with exotic flowers, but above all the Palm Room with its precious walnut paneling and gilded palm trees, are worthy of special mention.

The margravial state rooms are complemented by the "Galant Miniatures - Dr. Loer Collection": around 100 miniature paintings, mainly by French painters of the 18th century, are dedicated to Cupid's realm, while on the first floor an extensive collection of Bayreuth faience from the manufactory founded in 1716 (Rummel Collection) can be viewed. The museum "Margravine Wilhelmine's Bayreuth" provides a comprehensive insight into the world of courtly Bayreuth in the 18th century. The picture gallery with works from the late Baroque period, a branch gallery of the Bavarian State Painting Collections, is followed by the princely garden apartment and the "Italian Palace" belonging to the residence, which was built in 1758 for Margrave Friedrich's second wife, Sophie-Caroline von Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel.
