The Munich "painter prince" Franz von Stuck (1863-1928) built a villa according to his own ideas around the turn of the century and thus created one of the most important artists' houses in Europe that still exists today. Conceived as a total work of art, it combines luxurious room settings, an artist's studio and private living. Today, the Villa Stuck is a place for experiencing art: following the principle of the Gesamtkunstwerk, life, architecture, art, music and theatre are combined here. In addition to collections on the work of Franz von Stuck and on international Art Nouveau, its programme refers to artistic and cultural diversity from the 19th to the 21st century, with exhibitions on 19th century art, presentations of selected artistic positions of the 20th century and temporary exhibitions on contemporary art.

Until 11 May 2025, exhibitions will be held by the Villa Stuck museum team in the VS Interim Quarters at Goethestrasse 54 while the artists' villa on Prinzregentenstrasse is being renovated and made barrier-free. The Villa Stuck Museum will reopen in October 2025.
