The holdings of the Heimathaus Traunstein town museum range from prehistory and early history to the Middle Ages and early modern times to the town's recent history. The focus is on the economic life of the town, including the sections on the salt works and on crafts, trade and commerce. The museum also exhibits paintings, sacred art and a wide range of evidence of popular beliefs and customs as well as the civic and rural culture of Chiemgau. Numerous portraits show the faces of Traunstein in the past.
