The Bürgersaalkirche is the headquarters of the Munich Marian Men's Congregation, founded in 1610, but also the place of activity and veneration of Father Rupert Mayer S.J. The first part of the museum is dedicated to his life and work as a pastor and resistance fighter against National Socialism. The second part documents the cultural and devotional importance of the congregation for the city of Munich, which is reflected in the valuable donations to the congregation. Closely connected with Munich's city history is the "Augustinerkindl", a Christ child made of wax, which still enjoys great veneration.
