Kronacher Synagoge (Kronach synagogue)
The luminous swirl in the windows is reminiscent of the "hullabaloo" of Genesis - but also of the common biblical history of Christians and Jews. Built in 1883, the synagogue only had a short existence: It was profaned as early as 1938, but this ultimately protected the building from the destruction of the Night of Broken Glass.Today, the restored interior of the neo-Romanesque synagogue, which had room for about 100 worshippers, is once again open to the public. A special feature is the polygonal apse, in which the Torah shrine and reading desk were located. The Torah shrine, which was deliberately smashed, was left in its original state as a memorial.
