Isergebirgs-Museum Neugablonz (Isergebirgs Museum Neugablonz)
Three branches of industry shaped economic life in the Jizera Mountains in northern Bohemia: Glass and jewellery manufacturing flourished in Gablonz, and the textile industry in Reichenberg and Friedland. After the Second World War, several thousand people were driven out of the Jizera Mountains region and settled in Kaufbeuren, where they founded the Neugablonz district. The museum documents the life of the displaced persons before and after their resettlement and their contribution to building up the post-war society.Parallel to the local history, the development of (Neu)Gablonz fashion jewellery is presented, including replicas of historical crowns, a belt buckle for Marlene Dietrich or the famous engagement ring of Princess Diana.
