The salt works in Traunstein were in operation for 300 years. The wood needed for this was brought in by lumberjacks, a dangerous and arduous job. The Holzknechtmuseum (Woodcutter Museum) shows what life was like for the woodcutter and what equipment and machines were used in the recent past - not least with original woodcutter's huts that allow the hard everyday life of these men to be understood at first hand.
