Altenmarkt an der Alz's Heimatmuseum (Museum of local history Altenmarkt) focuses on its rich church history with the former Augustinian canonry Baumburg and its branch churches. Another focal point is the development of the village with its craft and commercial enterprises - the highlight of the exhibition is the historic hammer mill, which was the centre of Altenmarkt for 400 years until it was demolished in 1956.
