This museum is certainly not a "dreary house", as E. T.A. Hoffmann titled one of his novellas. The Romantic writer, composer and draughtsman lived in this building from 1809 to 1813, and today it and the garden are set up as a memorial. Numerous visual and acoustic installations on Hoffmann's life and work conjure up a fantastic world in the manner of the universal genius.
