Furniture, fences, hats, pictures, prams ... there is almost nothing that cannot be woven. The collection of the Deutsches Korbmuseum (German Basket Museum) shows this with a fascinating range of objects from all over the world. And it is in the right place here: In a former 19th century basket manufactory in the municipality that is considered the cradle of fine basketry.Germany's only specialised museum of its kind offers an overview of materials, tools and techniques, as well as numerous examples of various forms of use and works of historical and contemporary wickerwork on an exhibition area of about 850 m². Documents on distribution, trade and transport also shed light on the social and economic history of this craft, which once flourished in Michelau.
