Christian Schad (1894-1982) is one of the most important German protagonists of modernism. As a leading figure of New Objectivity in the 1920s and with his invention of "Schadography" (photography without a camera), he achieved world fame. Thanks to a donation from his widow Bettina, Christian Schad's estate is now in Aschaffenburg, where he lived for four decades. The future museum will therefore be able to draw on a rich treasure trove of over 3,200 works and thus - uniquely worldwide - illuminate all of the artist's creative periods.
