Carl Orff Museum (Carl Orff Museum)
A tribute to the creator of the world-famous masterpiece ‘Carmina Burana’. The COMU Carl Orff Museum in the Dießen district of St. Georgen is the only museum in the world dedicated to what is arguably the most important composer of the 20th century. Families, culture and music enthusiasts, and all Orff lovers can immerse themselves in the world of Carl Orff and learn a lot about his life and work. The exhibition – which is almost completely barrier-free – also gives educational and rehabilitation institutions playful access to Orff's artistic and pedagogical work. The museum is a family-friendly place for meeting, learning and inspiration. With around 300 square metres of exhibition space, it invites visitors to browse, listen, feel and participate. Orff and the Nazi era are also addressed. Among other things, the exhibition features a book that deals in detail with Orff's position.
Carl Orff's last home was in the Ziegelstadel in Dießen, with its spacious grounds and sweeping views over Lake Ammersee and the Bavarian Alps. He lived here from 1955 until his death in 1982. His home and studio, which also houses his study, have been preserved in their original condition.
