The Bayerisches Armeemuseum (Bavarian Army Museum) is one of the great military history museums in Europe. The New Palace, built in the 15th century, is considered one of the most beautiful Gothic secular buildings in Germany. The permanent exhibition shown here presents extraordinary objects from the museum's collection under the title "Forms of War 1600-1815". The room "Arsenal and Museum" focuses on the history of the museum, a "Treasury" contains extremely rare objects such as the clothing of a 16th century conquistador. "The Battle" shows visitors weapons and equipment. A large staging illustrates the brutality of the time, as do the finds from a mass grave from 1645, which give concrete testimony to the life, suffering and death of the soldiers. In the room "The Siege", a planning model of the Ingolstadt fortress (around 1570) and the oldest wheelbarrow in Europe (1537) are on display.
