Augustiner-Chorherrenmuseum (Augustinian Canons' Museum)
They have been around since the 12th century, yet there is probably only one museum in Germany that deals specifically with the topic of Augustinian canons: The Augustiner-Chorherrenmuseum (Augustinian Canons' Museum) traces the eventful history of the monastery and its inhabitants at the historic site of the monastery in Markt Indersdorf, while also taking a look at the Augustinian canons as such. The theme of education and school runs like a common thread through the exhibition. A separate section is dedicated to the use of the buildings after secularisation in the 18th century, initially as an orphanage for the Salesians and the Sisters of Mercy, and later as a Nazi educational institution. One focus is on the immediate post-war period, when the United Nations ran an international centre for the care of foreign unaccompanied children and young people (UNRRA D.P. Centre).
