Valentin-Karlstadt-Musäum (Valentin Karlstadt Museum)

  • Museum café.
  • Shop.

No, this is not a "normal" museum, it is a "Musäum", just as unique and multi-layered as the personalities to whom it is dedicated: Karl Valentin and his congenial partner Liesl Karlstadt. A mixture of curious details, surprises and information provides insight into the life and work of the two artists. And so, in addition to personal objects, original documents or film and sound recordings, there are also objects modelled on Valentin's panopticon, such as the legendary "winter toothpick" or the "melted snow sculpture".The museum's folk singer exhibition shows the development of Munich's first "pop culture" at the beginning of the 20th century. In the "Turmstüberl" there is music, readings or cabaret every first Friday of the month. The idea of a triad of museum, stage and pub, which Karl Valentin already realised in his Panoptikum and in the Ritterspelunke, is thus taken into account.
