Stadtgalerie Bamberg - Villa Dessauer (City Gallery Bamberg - Villa Dessauer)
The Villa Dessauer is considered an important architectural monument of the "German Renaissance", a style that began around 1880 and lasted until about 1890. Since 1987, temporary exhibitions, lectures and musical events have been held regularly in the representative building. They are mainly organised by the museums of the city of Bamberg. But private initiatives such as the Kunstverein Bamberg e. V. and the Berufsverband Bildender Künstler Oberfranken also exhibit here. Modern and contemporary art therefore play a major role in the Villa Dessauer. Another focal point is the series "Crossover of Cultures", which is dedicated to the art of one country in each of the individual exhibitions. Special attention is also paid to photography. Works from the Bamberg Sculpture Trail can be seen in the Villa's garden.
