Sammlung Goetz (Goetz collection)
With more than 5,000 works by over 500 artists, the Sammlung Goetz (Goetz collection) is one of the most important international collections of contemporary art. The foundation of the collection is formed by a number of works of Arte Povera. Furthermore, American artists of the 1980s, the Young British Artists as well as individual positions of German and international artists belong to the collection, which is continuously being expanded. The Sammlung Goetz (Goetz collection) reflects the media diversity of today's forms of artistic expression; in addition to drawings, graphics, paintings, photographs and space-related installations, there is a focus on "time-based media" works such as video, film and multiple projections. The tasks of the Sammlung Goetz (Goetz collection) include the storage, care, scientific supervision and presentation of the artworks. This is done through curated exhibitions in-house, cooperation projects and an intensive loan system.
