Rundfunkmuseum (Radio Museum)
In a former telecommunications office, the Broadcasting Museum shows the history of the development of radio and television technology, sound and image recording and electroacoustics. The main attraction is an extensive experimental area in which the physical and technical principles of broadcasting are explained using numerous demonstration and hands-on stations - including an impressive high-voltage demonstration system. More than 2000 exhibits, most of which are in working order, span a historical arc from the 1920s to the present day.
Other special features include historical equipment for production and broadcasting technology, including the original studio in which the young presenters Thomas Gottschalk and Günther Jauch once took the first steps in their careers at Bayerischer Rundfunk. There is also an extensive collection of radio and television sets that embed the history of these media in the history of politics and society. Audio documents and demonstrations of the equipment are of course a must for this topic.
