Römermuseum Kastell Boiotro (Roman Museum Boiotro Fort)
You can literally descend into the past at the Boiotro Roman Museum. It rests on the foundations of the late Roman fort of Boiotro, built around 280 BC, which can be visited in the basement. The western fort wall and the superstructures from the Middle Ages to the present are accessible via touchscreen and offer a glimpse into 1700 years of history. The museum itself presents almost exclusively finds from Passau up to the end of the Roman Empire in 476 AD. In addition to the more than 600 exhibits, a film with a virtual ideal reconstruction of Passau in Roman times, audio stations and numerous models and figurines explain the 400 years of Roman rule on the northern border of the empire. In this way, visitors can understand the connection between the site, the finds and the historical tradition directly at the historical site.
