Römer und Bajuwaren Museum Burg Kipfenberg (Romans and Bavarians Museum Kipfenberg Castle)
Important information:
The "Warrior of Kemathen", a Germanic mercenary in Roman service, is the focus of attention at Kipfenberg Castle. Finds from the archaeological excavation and a faithful reconstruction of his 5th century tomb are the highlights of the permanent exhibition. Another focus is on the Romans in the north of the province of Raetia. The museum provides information on the construction of the Roman Empire, the everyday life of the soldiers at the Limes, and the fall of the empire. On the upper floor there is a gallery with various views of Kipfenberg from the last three centuries in paintings, engravings and graphics.
