The Herbert Gebauer Private Art Collection is housed in a museum building in Altershausen in the Steigerwald. Altershausen, an idyllically situated little parish village on the upper reaches of the Weisach, is part of Münchsteinach in the district of Neustadt an der Aisch-Bad Windsheim. Situated on the north-eastern edge of the village, the museum building looks so out of place here that it is as if a UFO had landed in this secluded part of the forest. A quick glance through the windows at the many abstract objects reinforces this impression.
