In one of the oldest buildings in the city, the late Gothic poorhouse, the museum shows paintings, sculptures and works on paper by the SPUR group (1957-1965) in the style of abstract expressionism and Informel. Its members Heimrad Prem, Helmut Sturm, Lothar Fischer and HP Zimmer made an important contribution to German art in the 20th century; they succeeded in joining European modernism in the post-war period. The Museum SPUR (Museum SPUR) Cham presents the work of the group as well as their regional connection to the Upper Palatinate and Cham, and documents their history.
On the ground floor of the former poorhouse, changing exhibitions on topics of the town's history are shown in cooperation with the Cham town archives.
