Museum Barockscheune (Museum Baroque Barn)
"Volkach on the Main Loop. Culture - Landscape - History" is the title of the Museum Barockscheune's permanent exhibition in the impressive barn from 1714 that gives it its name. The first floor is dedicated to the town, its origins and architectural development, its history as a sovereign and, above all, the everyday life of its citizens. The centrepiece is the "Volkacher Salbuch" by the town clerk Niklas Brobst from 1504, a record of the town charter with unique depictions of everyday life. On the top floor, the exhibition focuses on the region around the Mainschleife with an emphasis on the history of viticulture, including a collection of over 200 Bocksbeutel bottles. Finally, the collection strategies are explained in the vaulted cellar using various collection bundles. A "children's trail" introduces young visitors to regional history in a playful way.
