What does kosher mean, what is Holekrash, what does Shabbat smell like, who goes to the ritual bath, can women become rabbis? - Rites, holidays and Jewish ways of life in the past and today are the topic of the permanent exhibition at the Jüdisches Museum Franconia in Fürth (Jewish Museum Franconia in Fürth). Visitors learn how ritual, memory and community form an inseparable unit in Jewish life. But the museum also tells the Jewish history of Franconia from the Middle Ages to the present day. The museum building itself is an impressive object: it belonged to Jewish families from the 17th to the late 19th century. Unique traces of Jewish everyday life are reflected in a historic leaf hut and a ritual bath.
