DenkStätte Weiße Rose (White Rose Memorial)
Under the title "The White Rose. Resistance to the Nazi Dictatorship", the permanent exhibition in the White Rose Memorial (DenkStätte Weiße Rose Memorial) at the atrium of the Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich commemorates the resistance group of the same name. Two of its members, Hans and Sophie Scholl, were observed distributing leaflets here in 1943 and arrested, which led to their execution and that of five other group members. Contacts in Hamburg were also sentenced to death. The permanent exhibition documents the history of this student resistance and the fates of its more than 30 comrades-in-arms.
