Archäologischer Park mit Museumsturm (Archaeological park with museum tower)
The Caelius Mons fortification was built around 300 AD, and with its 300-man garrison it was an important fort on the Danube-Iller-Rhine Limes in late antiquity. The history of the Roman province of Raetia Secunda and the results of the archaeological excavations in Kellmünz are documented in the museum tower.Impressive wall remains are still preserved from the fort itself. Some of the archaeological structures have been made comprehensible with the help of two-coloured paving (walls red, interiors grey).
The park grounds are accessible all year round. The museum tower is only open from April to October on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from 10:00-17:00.
