Event: Guided tour with Chief Curator J. Göbel of the special exhibition ‘The New Dramaturgy of Food: Design Beyond the Plate’ (focus on ‘Faktorei21’)

Sunday, 20 September 2026, 14:30 - 16:00

Location: Porzellanikon Hohenberg (State Museum for Porcelain Hohenberg)

A traditional restaurant meal usually follows strict rules – each guest eats from their own plate. The innovative design project ‘Faktorei21’, which will be the focus of the guided tour on 20 September 2026, proves that there is another way.

Behind this project lies a creative collaboration between seven students from the Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences and gourmet chef Christian Krüger from the ‘Faktorei21’ restaurant in Duisburg. Together, the team has completely reimagined the dining experience and created bespoke porcelain and glass tableware specifically designed for sharing food. The designs also had to meet the demanding requirements of the kitchen and the logistical processes involved in service. In addition to the tableware, the students examined the entire guest experience, from the welcome ritual through to the presentation of the individual courses and the accompanying music. The guided tour offers visitors a fascinating insight into this pioneering experiment.

Price: €5.00 | Adults pay an additional €1.00 for Sunday admission
