: Laufer Steam Model Days

On 7–8 and 14–15 November 2026, the Lauf Industrial Museum will once again be all about steam, technology and model-making. At the long-established Lauf Steam Model Days, around 60 exhibitors from Germany and Austria will be showcasing their technical masterpieces and bringing historic machines to life in miniature form.
Whether steam-powered locomotives, model ships, flame throwers or meticulously detailed miniature workshops – there is technology in motion to discover all over the museum grounds. Miniature trains circle the large railway roundabout, whilst model ships glide across the water in the historic steel warehouse. Outdoors, the programme is rounded off by historic tractors from the Bulldogverein Dehnberg e.V. and a mobile locomobile.
Steam engines, craftsmanship and steampunk
Among the highlights are the demonstrations of the museum’s 23-tonne steam engine from 1902, which has been recognised as one of Bavaria’s ‘100 Local Treasures’. The demonstrations take place on Sundays at 2 pm, 3 pm and 4 pm.
The steampunk group ‘Steamworic’ will spark the imagination and creativity with their unusual contraptions and hands-on activities. The programme is complemented by the museum’s experimental and interactive stations, which are particularly inviting for families to have a go.
Experience and enjoy technology
Refreshments are also available: coffee, homemade cake and hearty snacks are on offer. On Sundays, the Pristownik butcher’s shop complements the selection with Franconian specialities from its food truck.
